Current Financial Landscape
The Content of this webpage is currently being developed to provide information on the City’s structural deficit, current financial conditions, and outlook for the 2027 Fiscal Year Budget. This page is being constructed as a repository of historical trends impacting the community, a comparison with similar-sized communities across the state of Iowa as a measuring rod to evaluate what we do, and a place to begin to look at challenges we face financially in the immediate future and potential solutions that can be considered.
This process will begin with a series of posts over the next couple of months prior to beginning the budget process in January 2026. We encourage members of our community to go through the information as it is added to this page. If any of the information raises questions or ideas, please let one the staff listed on our Finance Department page know. We would like to answer any questions that come up, and it may lead to additional information being included on this page as we move forward that is of benefit to others.
